Our story

Matt Lyon, began his love of plants while attending UC Berkeley. While hiking the Bay Area’s redwood forests Matt sprouted a plan to build sustainable and edible gardens using reclaimed wood. Matt graduated and moved his horticultural career to New York City, focused on bringing nature to the rooftops and brownstones of NYC. After honing his skills of horticulture and plant design, Matt returned to the Bay Area to start his own landscape company.

In 2015, Matt started Yard & Table in San Francisco. Yard & Table began hiring a little over a year later and has continued to teach and grow ever since. After years of designing and building gardens we have returned to our roots. Plants! Yard & Table has left some of the heavier construction behind and now focuses on high end garden care.
